Users may receive an “Oops! Permission error” message while accessing CommodityWatch because the CommodityWatch dashboard functionality has been decommissioned as per Engineering guidance.
Current CommodityWatch Behavior
- Although some users may still see the CommodityWatch option in the left-hand navigation menu, access to the underlying dashboard functionality is no longer operational.
- As a result:
- Clicking the CommodityWatch option may display a permission-related error.
- The dashboard itself may not be accessible even if the menu option is visible.
Why the CommodityWatch Option Is Still Visible
- Visibility of the CommodityWatch menu option depends on specific user roles and license assignments.
- Users will see the CommodityWatch option in the hamburger menu only if they have:
- The Commodity Manager role assigned, and
- The Reports & Dashboard license enabled
- If these permissions are not assigned, the CommodityWatch option will not appear in the navigation menu.
Can the CommodityWatch Option Be Removed?
- The visibility and future behavior of the CommodityWatch menu item depend on Product and Engineering decisions.
- For:
- Decommissioning confirmation
- Navigation/menu cleanup
- Feature replacement plans
- Alternative solutions or roadmap discussions
- users should coordinate with the appropriate Product Management and Engineering teams.
Important Notes
- Having the required role and license only controls menu visibility.
- Menu visibility does not guarantee active functionality access if the feature has been decommissioned.
- Permission errors may occur even for authorized users if the backend functionality is no longer supported.
