Why are Tier 2 and downstream supplier paths not visible for a supplier in Autonomous Mapping (AM), and how are Tier 1 suppliers identified?

• In Autonomous Mapping (AM), downstream supplier path generation depends on the successful identification and addition of a supplier as a Tier 1 supplier within the AM network. Once a supplier is successfully established as Tier 1, AM can generate and display the associated Tier 2 and downstream supplier relationships beneath that supplier.
  
  
• AM identifies Tier 1 suppliers through two primary processes:

1. Direct Path Extraction

For supplier relationships available through BOL shipment data:

• AM analyzes shipment relationships between customers and suppliers. 
• The system uses the internal company identifier (dim_cmpny_id) to establish accurate supplier relationships. 
• If a valid shipment relationship exists for the correct company identifier, the supplier is added as a Tier 1 supplier in the AM network. 
• Once the supplier is available as Tier 1, downstream Tier 2 and sub-tier paths can be generated.

2. Derived Tier Generation

• When a supplier exists in the network data but a direct customer-to-supplier shipment relationship is not available in BOL, AM uses the Derived Tier process to identify potential Tier 1 relationships.
• During this process:
• The system evaluates available supplier relationships to determine whether a supplier can be established as a Derived Tier 1 supplier. 
• If the supplier is successfully identified and added as Tier 1, downstream supplier paths can be generated. 
• If the supplier is not added as Tier 1 through Derived Tier generation, AM cannot generate Tier 2 or downstream paths beneath that supplier.

• Therefore, the visibility of Tier 2 and downstream paths is directly dependent on whether the supplier is successfully identified as a Tier 1 supplier during the extraction process.
