Why do site numbers change in the downloaded master data file, and how should they be handled for future uploads?

  • Site numbers in the master data file may appear different from those originally uploaded (for example, long numbers being replaced with shorter ones). This behaviour is expected and part of the system’s design.
  • In Resilinc, site numbers act as reference identifiers used to link data across multiple tabs in the CDIF, such as the Site List, Part-Site Map, and Product-Site Map. For accurate mapping, each site must have a unique site number, and this number must remain consistent across all tabs within the same file.
  • However, during multiple uploads—especially in append mode—users may assign the same site number to different sites. This can create mapping conflicts. To prevent such issues and maintain data accuracy, the system automatically reassigns unique site numbers in the master data file. This ensures that each site is uniquely identified and that all part-to-site relationships remain correct.
  • For example, a user may initially upload one site with site number “1” and later upload another site also using “1.” While both uploads are accepted, the system will internally update the master data file so that both sites have distinct site numbers, avoiding any ambiguity in mappings.
  • For future uploads, it is important to follow these guidelines:
    • Always download the latest master data file before preparing a new upload
    • Use site numbers exactly as they appear in the most recent file
    • When adding new sites, continue the numbering sequence from the current file
    • Ensure site numbers are consistent across all tabs, especially between the Site List and mapping tabs
  • In summary, site numbers are system-managed identifiers, and any changes made by the system are intentional to ensure data integrity and accurate mappings.
