Does the Daily Digest email filter news based on Preferences and Notifications settings?

Yes, the Daily Digest email gets filtered based on the event types or preferences set under Personal Preferences & Notifications Settings.
In fact, this is also applicable for Weekly Digests that gets triggered to customer users on a weekly basis. They too do get filtered basis the preferences set on personal preferences page.
