Why is there a discrepancy between the number of supplier contacts in the Supplier Detail and Contacts dashboard?

The supplier-specific details dashboard differs in number of contacts due to the product’s logic and how it pulls the data for this dashboard.
The contacts tab on the supplier details page contains more contacts due to the fact that it is pulling contacts from both tier 1 and all sub-tiers.
The contacts dashboard and contacts report only contain contacts from tier 1.
