How does Resilinc identify sourcing for a given part?

If the part sourcing information is provided by customer in tab 2 (Part Sourcing) of the CDIF, it will take precedence and will be shown as is on the portal. However, if sourcing information is absent/blank in tab 2 (Part Sourcing), the portal will automatically update it based on the below logic explained.

  • When a customer part is associated only with supplier types classified as ‘Warehouse’ or ‘Distributors’, it will continue to be labeled as “Single Sourced,” as these supplier types are considered distribution channels rather than independent manufacturing sources.

Supplier Type

Sourcing

Distributor

Single sourced

Warehouse

Single sourced

  • If the same CPN is supplied by two or more distinct suppliers—regardless of whether they share the same Supplier Type or have different types—and none are classified as Warehouse or Distributor, the part will be classified as “Multi-Sourced.”

  • A Contract Manufacturer (CM) is a company hired by a brand — the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) — to produce components or finished products. Rather than owning and operating its own factories, the OEM outsources manufacturing to the CM. When the same customer part number (CPN) can be produced by two or more independent CMs, the sourcing is classified as Multi-Sourced, because multiple CMs provide independent production capacity and reduce single-origin risk.

  • When all suppliers for the same CPN are classified as Warehouse or Distributor, the part is labeled “Single Sourced,” because these supplier types are treated as distribution channels rather than independent production sources.

  • When the Supplier Type field is blank and a part is associated with two or more suppliers in the Part Sourcing tab, the system will classify the part as “Multi-Sourced,” based on the presence of multiple supplier relationships.

  • When the supplier for the same CPN are classified as Warehouse/Distributor and for other supplier the supplier type is blank, the part is labeled “Single Sourced,” because warehouses are treated as logistics/distribution channels rather than independent manufacturing sources.
