- This behavior is expected because the Category Supplier view and the Part Level download represent data from two different perspectives.
- The Category Supplier view displays data broken down by supplier and category combinations. When a part is multi-sourced (meaning the same part is supplied by multiple suppliers), that part is counted under each supplier associated with it.
- The Part Level download, however, provides data at the individual part level, where each unique part is listed once and counted only once, regardless of how many suppliers are associated with it.
- As a result, when users add the single-sourced and multi-sourced part counts across all suppliers, multi-sourced parts may be counted multiple times, causing the total count to exceed the number of unique parts.
- Example:
- If Part X is supplied by both Supplier A and Supplier B:
- Supplier A's row will include Part X in its multi-sourced part count.
- Supplier B's row will also include Part X in its multi-sourced part count.
- When the multi-sourced counts from both suppliers are combined, Part X is counted twice — once for each supplier relationship.
- Therefore, the total calculated from the Category Supplier view may be higher than the unique part count.
